The SCI Team

Offering the Superior Difference

Our Story

Business opportunities present themselves in various ways and the creation of Superior Cabinetry and Interiors was no exception.

Owners of our now sister company; Superior Carpentry/Construction, Dean O’Reilly and Chris Cawker got yarning to a joiner who knew of a local joinery business that had recently become available to purchase.

They got together and took a tour of the factory, located at 6 Browne Street, and quickly realised that it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

However, the boys knew that it was not something that they could tackle on their own.

They then met with three like minded employee’s; Damon Nickel, Ethan Stanley and Bevan Coulter, who were also making plans to purchase the business.

Between us, we quickly realised a collaboration would be the best way to go.

Acting fast we pooled our resources and formed a board of directors that was able to purchase the business.

From that first visit and onwards we have worked really well as a team and this has been really beneficial.

Its important to all of us that we retain the business in Matamata and operate as a locally owned operation.

We now provide locals with outstanding products that are crafted using state of the art technology and highly skilled joiners and cabinet makers.

From a laundry cabinet to a full kitchen or even a commercial fit out, we can do it all.

The SCI team enjoy the challenges and experiences of any cabinetry and joinery work.

Their combined experience and qualifications, matched with the latest technology in machinery; makes them second to none in the Waikato area and beyond.

Ethan and Damon have been working in the cabinetry industry locally in Matamata for many years and have installed cabinetry all around the country.

Before moving to Matamata, Bevan gained a wealth of cabinetry experience working in Auckland, specializing in shop fit outs.

Our joiners and apprentices are all local to Matamata and we support them in furthering their career in the joinery industry.
